What a pleasure to see so many smiling faces on Zoom today.  Katrina and I estimate that we had just under 50 attendees which included 11 guests.  I am delighted that so many members are engaging with the new Zoom environment and are obviously enjoying connecting with other members via this medium.  Time will tell how long we may need to meet in this way and hopefully everyone will continue to be a part of this opportunity to stay in touch at this difficult time.

Dr Gary Presland's presentation on 'How Nature Shaped the City of Melbourne' was both informative and fascinating.  The different types of geological areas, how they relate to the City's development and the challenges that were faced by the first settlers and those who emigrated was so well explained.  It is extraordinary how Melbourne has developed in such a relatively short space in time.  Thank you Gary for helping us all to understand where we live and how the development of Melbourne as a major City has taken place.  It will be interesting to see where modern society will take Melbourne in the coming decades!

Next week we will listen to Sarah Ward from the Wings Programme (Hawthorn Amateur Football Club) .  Sarah volunteers as Player Welfare Manager.  The Club's focus is on mental health through the creation of their revolutionary Player Wellbeing Programme.  At this difficult time programmes of this nature are so valuable to our community.

I look forward to seeing everyone next week.  We will be inducting David McNamara our newest member so your support for David's special day is appreciated.

Please see below my music tips for the week.  I hope you enjoy them:

Astrud Gilberto:  Fly Me to the Moon

Django Reinhardt: Honeysuckle Rose

Mozart: Clarinet Concerto in A Major

Bizet: Carmen Suite No 2
