Rotary Hawthorn Meeting at Kooyong
Sep 02, 2025 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
Guest Speaker: Ross Pritchard, Principal, Auburn High School
Our guest speaker will be Ross Pritchard from Auburn High School and the theme of his presentation is Thinking Beyond in Education
Ross arrived at the school in 2020 as Assistant Principal of the Senior School and has been Principal since July 2023. Raised in Kyabram (Goulburn Valley) Ross knew that he wanted to be a PE Maths teacher following work experience in Year 10 (1983). That year he was also an unsuccessful applicant for a Rotary exchange program (he has moved on). Graduating from Phillip Institute of Technology in Bundoora, Ross embarked on a teaching career: first at MacLeod High, then Melton Tech, before moving to Melbourne High School.
Ross has lived in the Malvern / Armadale area for 30 years and sees it as an honour to be the Principal of his local High School.
He will talk about how education has changed, the programs at AHS and how Thinking Beyond the status quo is key to engaging students and retaining teachers.
