Dorothy Gilmour introduced Margot Boyle, the recipient of the first Rotary Hawthorn Service to Seniors Award.

In introducing the recipient of our first Rotary Hawthorn Service to Senior’s Award, Dorothy Gilmour  specified that it has been created to honour a person who fits the following criteria:

    •    Is an adult living or working in Boroondara

    •    Satisfies the Rotary principle of Service Above Self.

    •    Is committed to making a difference for seniors by volunteering their time, knowledge, training and experience.

    •    Is a role model for volunteers working with or for seniors

    •    Enhances respect for older people.

She invited us to give a round of applause to Margot Boyle, our 2024 recipient of Service to Seniors.

Dorothy stated that Margot is the epitome of excellence in volunteering, who has volunteered at 22 separate organisations since 1971.

She has been shown to have the biggest heart of love and compassion for people, and strives towards making a difference. Her passion, energy and sense of humour is unparalleled.  We respect her spirit of volunteerism immensely. 

Dorothy thanked Margot for being so selfless and for making a tangible difference to many lives.

Gerard Mansour presented the trophy to Margot, who responded in her own inimitable way: she involved the whole room in a delightful sing-song, before thanking the club for the recognition.
