DIK Open Day
PP Paul Perrottet, Marketing Coordinator, Rotary Donations In Kind Warehouse, cordially invites all volunteers (past and current,) to attend and celebrate DIK’s 700th container, bound for Tonga.
New Rotarians are particularly welcome, to see the work that goes an at this Rotary enterprise.

Tuesday’s Meeting
Yes, we had a Club Forum, with lots of interesting topics ra
ised. (see below)
And we had former member Hans Carlborg drop in, to catch up with some old friends (seen here with Anne Scott) We shared some reminiscences, and he caught up on our projects.
But why would he choose to come along to a Club Forum? All will be revealed in due time . . .
PP Doug McLean presented PP Andrew Crockett with the President’s Award for “Rotarian of the Year”, as the plaque was not available in time for our Changeover. Well done, Andrew, steering the Club along the right course as Club Secretary.
President Doug also presented Noel Halford with an addition to his Paul Harris recognition. Noel has certainly contributed to Rotary over the decades, and thoroughly deserves this recognition.
A bigger surprise however, was President Dorothy’s “Personal Surprise” package, won by Richard Logan, who was lucky enough to have the correct sticker under his side-plate.
Forums are Fun
(Or should that be “Fora are Fun”? The answer is no: the plural of forum is forums. No discussion shall be permitted.)
Our outgoing and incoming Presidents, Doug McLean and Dorothy Gilmour ran a ruler over Hawthorn Rotary.
The format was certainly user-friendly: we were split into tables: each one with a monitor to keep us on-topic.
We then went through the agenda, with three questions before lunch and three afterwards. These sought information about our involvement and engagement in Rotary, and the projects we liked to support. We discussed social and fundraising events, frequency of face-to-face meetings, what we did well, and what we could improve upon.
The monitors presented a brief analysis of their tables feelings, and these shall be analysed by our board, along with submissions from members who were unable to attend.
Members all gained from some introspection: “Why am I in Rotary?” and “What are we doing well?”
And of course: “How could we do it better?“
Well done, outgoing and incoming Presidents, Doug and Dorothy. We look forward to hearing the analysis of our deliberations.
