Zone 8 says “NO” to Domestic Violence

Our Wonderful World

London’s annual multicultural Notting Hill Carnival was once again marred by violence, with eight men suffering stab wounds and hundreds of people arrested for various offences including assaults on police officers, sexual assaults, and possession of drugs and weapons.

Are you alarmed?

Climate alarmists at the UK’s Guardian newspaper warned Monday a quarter of European ski resorts will face scarce snow because of global warming.

The Guardian is the UK standard-bearer of climate alarmism and announced in 2019 that it would no longer refer to “climate skeptics” but only “climate deniers.”

Noel and Marjorie’s Outback Safari

We love their reports, but perhaps Noel and Marjorie would be safest to stay away.

“The Australian” reports:

An extremist environmental group has targeted Australia’s wealthiest suburbs, with SUV owners waking to find their tyres slashed and their cars undriveable.

The environmental group, Tyre Extinguishers, left those affected with a note alerting them: “Your gas guzzler kills.”

“SUVs and 4x4s are a disaster for our climate. SUVs are the second-largest cause of the global rise in carbon dioxide emissions over the past decade – more than the entire aviation industry.”

Rotary's Acronyms Rule!

Don’t you love them?  RYLA, RYPEN, MUNA and so on.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) refers to organisational frameworks which seek to promote "the fair treatment and full participation of all people”.

Propelled by the likes of climate change, the ESG (environment, social and governance) framework has become very popular as an organisation assessment tool.

Our Jesters note that PP Ian Bentley’s current Rotary job description as “Webmaster” is sadly deficient. They have deemed him to be our  “Email, Internet, Electronic Information Officer”, and in future shall refer to him as the E.I.E.I.O.

Working With Children

David McNamara reminded us that “Working With Children” cards expire every few years.  Please check that yours is up-to-date, and renew it when required.

(Letting it expire and applying for a new one can be a nuisance)
