Rotarian Cricketers convene in Albury for the IFCR

Rotarian cricketers arrived in Albury, Sunday 19 October for the IFCR carnival.

Many were accommodated at the recently refurbished Quest apartments in Kiewa Street Albury. The opening and welcome get together was at Restaurant 2640 at the Quest apartments.

Four Teams were selected:

·      Red Gum (Red)

·      River Gum (Green - My Team)

·      Iron Bark (Blue)

·      Stringy Bark  (White)

All Games were played at Kelly Park, Lawrence Street, Wodonga with a 9.30 am Start -40 Over Game (Split into 2 X 20 Overs)

Day 1: 1st  Game  Monday 20  October (Red Gum/Iron Bark) v’s (River Gum /Stringy Bark)

Result: Red Gum/Iron Bark 238 defeated Gum /Stringy Bark 158.  My Contribution with bat11 Retired.   Did not bowl.

Day 2: Tuesday 21 October Rest Day - Many played Golf. We went to Woolshed Falls -1  hour drive from Albury.

Evening:  Rotary Dinner at Thurgoona Country Club. Two Course meal, Guest Speaker -Gary Jackson, father of Lauren Jackson.  Gary spoke of her basketball career and how she was bullied at School.

Day 3: 2nd Game Wednesday 22 October - (Red Gum/River Gum) v’s (Iron Bark /Stringy Bark)

Result: Iron Bark / Stringy Bark batted 138 off 20 Overs, then heavy rain, IFCR AGM no change in Committee, agreed next Festival in Ballina NSW (Date TBA) early Lunch, game abandoned due to rain.  My Contribution - did not Bat or Bowl.

Day 4: Thursday 23 October - Rest Day, group tour to Rochester for Lunch (Royal Hotel), then wine tour to Stanton and Killeen winery (Official Tournament Sponsor).

Day 5: Friday 24  October - (Red Gum/Stringy Bark) v’s (Iron Bark /River Gum) 

Result: Red Gum/Stringy Bark 208 defeated Iron Bark /River Gum -1788. My Contribution with bat15 Retired. Bowling 1 over 0/4.

Closing Event at Quest Restaurant 2640 with  presentations

Left Albury Saturday 25 October for 4 Hour (2 Stops) drive back to Melbourne.
