President Tilak reports on the last Zoom Tuesday lunch meeting for the year 2020, which was well attended given the busy times after covid-19 restrictions.
 
 
Reminder to all to all for the following RSVP:
  1. Registration for our annual Christmas party must be in by 10/12/2020, to all preparation for the evening celebrations on 16/12/2020 at Auburn Bowls club, very exciting menu and certainly any beverages you could buy, Andrew Crockett is very busy with organising the event.
  2. Ham orders must be in by tonight, updated by Richard Logan thank you for your efforts
  3. Reminder to all to register to help with the packing and distributing of Christmas Packs for the 12 December 2020.
  4. 2021 Rotary National Australia Day celebration will be held at Victoria park, Kew from 11am on the 26thof January 2021. There will be celebrity guests and past RI Presidents. Multi-cultural events as well as foods, sausage sizzles, Children’s activities. Rotary Club of Hawthorn will have its own marque with entertainment and refreshments. We urge volunteer contributions to show case our Club’s achievements over the years. Please get in contact with Noel Halford or Andrew Crockett.
  5. DIK Working Bee is this Saturday the 12th.   Please volunteer to help sort out donated goods, and you may contact Gordon Cheyne or Noel McInnes.
  6. We have received Free Style Libre Glucose monitoring sensors to the value of $20000 this week. We now need a sponsor to courier them urgently to needy Kimberly BOAB Health Service, to utilise them mostly among indigenous communities.
 
This week’s guest speaker was Anthony “Harry" Moffitt (left) who has served Australian defence forces for 30 yrs and working as a psychologist. He highlighted the importance of Cricket and golf games to relieve anxiety during deployments and worthwhile reading his Eleven Bats his extraordinary memoir.
 
I am thinking playing some cricket with my son even in the nets to relieve some anxiety after going through this pandemic period as a true front line medical practitioner.
