The meeting today was our annual Hat Day lunch with a raffle and prizes for best hats. The prize for the best man’s hat was won by Gilbert Habla and best lady’s hat by Susie Anderson. Proceeds from the raffle will be donated to Rotary Health and a big thank you to Charlotte England, Anne Scott and Kim D’Arcy for their raffle prize gifts.
Today’s meeting included the induction of our newest member Susan-Gaye Anderson who prefers to be known as Susie. Members may recall Susie gave a very interesting and funny talk about her early career in television a few months back.

Our guest speaker was Dr Michael Valos and his topic was Humour for Leaders. He explained how important humour is in people’s lives and how business leaders in particular need to strike a good balance to be engaging, but not seen as overbearing or condescending when using humour.
Noel Halford provided members with an update on the weekend of 25th & 26th November that he is organising with the Rotary Club of Nhill. The weekend will include a dinner prepared by the Nhill Myanmar community and the opportunity to shop in their local arts and craft shop.
Anne Scott provided an update on the Club’s October fund raising projects, Hawkers Walkers and Walk with Paws on Saturday 14th October in Elsternwick Park in support of Rotary’s Polio eradication program.
