Rotary started with the vision of one man — Paul HarrisRotary Clubs around the world celebrated the 156th anniversary of his birth on 19 April.
After setting up his law practice in Chicago, Harris gathered several business associates to discuss the idea of forming an organisation for local professionals. He envisioned a place where professionals of diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships.

Rotary clubs and members around the world celebrated the 156th anniversary of Paul Harris' birth on 19 April. Here are some of the ways they marked the occasion:
- The Rotary Club of Arica Chinchorro, Chile, celebrated its silver anniversary and welcomed an honorary member into their club.

- The Rotary Club of Carroll Creek, Maryland, USA, developed and shared a video reenactment of the founding of Rotary.
- Jay Lotterer, President-elect of the Rotary Club of Pittsburg Sunrise, Kansas, USA, played in a charity golf tournament to support local families.
- The Rotary Club of Gilford, New Hampshire, held an orientation for a new member in which they highlighted TRF and the Paul Harris Society.
- Randeep Singh Arora, of the Rotary Club of Fairfield-Suisun, California, USA, reflected on the profound influence that Rotary has on uniting people from all walks of life, fostering lasting friendships and making a tangible impact in the world.
