The Auburn Tower is part of the Uniting Church building the corner of Hepburn Street and Oxley Road in Hawthorn. The association, however, is non-denominational and not connected with the Church. The association’s primary focus is to protect and preserve its unique design and architectural significance.
The Friends of the Auburn Tower are holding an event on Thursday 19th April to raise funds to help restore the tower. Julie Dodds-Streeton is the key speaker. Julie is a historian and former judge in the Federal Court. Julie’s husband is the grandson of the late Sir Arthur Streeton. Julie will present an illustrated talk based on her research of Sir Arthur’s experience as a war artist in World War I. The event will be held at the Tower.
I intend to book and go along, I hope a few members can join me.
