Thank you Migoals for your support in providing diaries and planners for the care bags for the inpatients of the mental health units.
This is from The Alfred MHU:
“Hospital staff have consistently noted that journals and diaries play an important role in patients’ recovery and wellbeing. It has been wonderful to be able to provide such high-quality Migoals products as part of these care bags.
'We are so blessed to have been donated diaries for our consumers. As an Occupational Therapist, a lot of out interventions surround routine planning and behavioural activation. These diaries have been a great resource that support us to work collaboratively with consumers to come up with a routine that works for them and something nice that consumers can take home from the ward. Often when consumers are so unwell they can easily become confused and disorientated, diaries are crucial to reorientate them to the date! They are a great way to provide something positive in otherwise such a difficult time in their life. We would be so grateful to receive donations of diaries and find them a great tool for consumers in their mental health recovery.'
"From a clinical point of view in occupational therapy, (basic humans needs too!), it is crucial for consumers to have access to 2026 planners. Consumers require autonomy and ownership over their goals and planning to support their recovery! We are so grateful for the resources provided to help us assist them."
"As a nurse in the IPU, I often hear positive feedback about the planners from our consumers. It is important for our consumers to have a tangible place to put all their information; it gives them a sense of autonomy, visually displaying appointments and events to stay future focused. Having a planner with the proper year and dates is also very important to them. For some of our consumers, the planners are a key intervention to helping them improve their personal growth and wellbeing."
"We are incredibly grateful to have received donated planners to the IPU in the past, and we hope they will be donated again in the future. As a neurodivergent person, I can appreciate the peace of mind having a planner would provide to consumers. The planners directly assist with executive functioning, enhance self-advocacy as well as support task initiation and follow through. Many consumers do not have access to a personal computer or smart phone, so having a physical planner to keep appointments and documentation all in one location is incredibly beneficial. Our consumers sometimes come into the IPU with limited personal belongings and resources and having a planner of their own provides increased self-esteem as an active participant in their healing and recovery.”
“I’m so thankful for this. It’s really going to help me track my appointments and help me get my life in order.”
