Ngaire Cannon was the first female inducted into Rotary Hawthorn in February 1994. She was Club President in 2012-13. After her death in 2020, PDG Bernie Walshe wrote: “Ngaire left her mark on the Club on the day of her Induction.
As is our practice, once the new Member is inducted, they are given a Standing Ovation. We were still standing when Ngaire approached the microphone to respond and said: ‘You can all sit down now.’
I was up near the front and said out loud, ‘It didn’t take her long to take charge.’ Ngaire immediately responded “I will get you” or something to that effect. READ MORE
