Christmas Packs for Upton House Inpatients
As an extension of our Club’s ongoing support for Box Hill Hospital’s Upton House, we are putting together Christmas gift packs for the inpatients of the mental health ward.
Upton House staff will assemble the packs themselves so they can tailor each one to individual needs.
Some of the items will come from our regular care bag products (such as deodorant, lip balm, moisturiser, and hairbrushes) in place of our usual December delivery of care bags. We’ll also include a few special treats for the inpatients to share during mutual help meetings.
How You Can Help
When you’re doing your weekly grocery shopping, could you please pick up a few extra items from the list below?
Alternatively, you can give Katrina some cash, and she’ll do the shopping on your behalf.
Collection Dates
We’ll be collecting donations at Club meetings on Tuesday 21 October and Tuesday 11 November.
Food Items Requested
Some items will be included in the gift packs; others will be used in mutual help meetings.
Small packs of:
Mini pretzels
Sour lollies
Popcorn
Chips
Chocolates (individually wrapped)
Biscuits (individually wrapped)
Nespresso coffee pods
Herbal teas
Mince tarts
Please note: No nuts, glass, or cans or sprays .
Other Donations
If you have any cosmetic or airline travel pouches (with or without products inside), these would be greatly appreciated. (new or as new please)
They’ll be used as part of the gift presentation and can also serve as handy toiletry bags for patients afterward.
We are also collecting very second hand basic gym equipment to support helping the physio team run gentle fitness sessions that support recovery and wellbeing.
Items needed:
Small dumbbells (1kg, 2kg, 3kg)
Leg weights
Hand grip strengtheners
Pilates / fit balls
Yoga mats
These simple items can make a huge difference to someone rebuilding their confidence and strength.
We are also still collecting:
Caps / hats
Basic reading glasses (including glasses cases)
Men’s Health magazines
AND fidget items like: "Poppits" and Spinners.
If you have any of these things gathering dust, we'd love to give them a new life where they’ll really make a difference.
