Rotary Hawthorn, Katrina Flinn and Christmas at Upton House

Last week we delivered Christmas gift of snack packs kindly donated & packed by It’s the Little Things Community to Upton House the mental health ward of Box Hill Hospital.
Snack packs & sports balls will also be provided to AIPU, the adolescent ward next door.

We also delivered more travel/cosmetic pouches, toiletries and other small gifts which will be thoughtfully packed by the staff into pouches as Christmas gifts.
As well as more exercise equipment to support activities organised by the Physiotherapist to encourage movement and to spark joy.
Donations of items were generously collected & donated by members of Rotary Hawthorn, CWA Boroondara, Reformed by Pilates, and the wider community (via BHRR) and of course It’s the Little Things Community.

We also provided ingredients for basic cooking classes and mutual help meetings. Then purchase of these items & some of the exercise equipment was funded with the assistance of a Rotary Foundation District Grant.
This is in addition to our monthly delivery of care bags and clothing which is very much appreciated, providing for basic needs and dignity of the patients.

Another great example of “Together we make a difference.”
Staff tell us that our ongoing support aids the patients' recovery and the extra programs supported reduces the chance of readmittance.
regards
Katrina
