Back to Zoom again with 28 members and guests joining to listen to the brilliant work from Prof. Paul Mulvaney who is Laureate Professor of Chemistry in the School of chemistry at the University of Melbourne.
He has served as the Chair of RACI colloid Chemistry division and various chair positions in in National committees for Chemistry and is currently the Director of ARC centre of Excellence and Exciton Science.
Paul gave us insight into how Australia could be an energy superpower exporting energy to the rest of World. He highlighted the energy challenges and energy consumption has grown from 1800 to 2000 exponentially which has contributed to high Co2 emissions and global warming over the last 150 yrs.
He also highlighted the conventional energy resources are so limited, that we will be forced to investigate renewable energy sources such as solar, winds, geothermal, tides, hydro, and biomass, with the fast-depleting fossil fuel, Natural gas and even Nuclear (Uranium).  Australia's 400km2 region in Northern territory has a potential to produce World’s energy need from Solar panels, He described various forms of solar panels including roofs, side walls etc.
