It was a great pleasure to stand in for President Tilak today.
Our speaker Bernadette O'Brien from Boab Health Services delivered a presentation which was comprehensive, detailed and fascinating.
The sheer vastness of the Kimberley and the breadth of medical issues that the Boab Health Services have to contend with are considerable. We certainly received a presentation that showed the problems that Diabetes causes within the multiple Aboriginal communities across the Kimberley region and the challenges in being able to help these communities understand what Diabetes is and how it will affect them.
Our Club Services Director, Andrew Crockett has been very active in organising both a Club Sweep for Cup Day and also a Club Quiz Night for 13th November.  Everyone has been sent an email on both these activities and I encourage Club Members to get involved and be part of these fun initiatives.
Katrina gave the Club an update on Upton House Care Packs and the provisions that are needed to help this great project.  So, please, if you have any doona covers or items of need  could you let her know.
The Hawthorn Team for End Polio is having a very busy month! Many kilometres have been walked and the donations have been extremely generous.  As we go to press our Club is second on the ladder for raising funds for End Polio in the District.  Our donations from October meetings, other than Hat Day, are going to this important cause however extra donations are always welcome.
The Taverners' Raffle and Wine sales are continuing. Both of these initiatives raise money for the Club.  The Raffle was a great success last year where we raised $1000 which was put towards the Skyhydrant Project.  It would be wonderful to see the Club equal this over the coming months.
Stay safe and well.
Kind regards,
Charlotte England
