Youth Service

Youth Service recognises the positive change implemented by youth and young adults involved in leadership development activities, community and international service projects, and exchange programs that enrich and foster world peace and cultural understanding.

Our Youth program is busy and bustling, thanks to the outstanding leadership of our Youth Director and team.

Tasmanian Exchange Program. One of the most enjoyable times in our year is the hosting of the four students from Campbell Town High in rural Tasmania. Hosted by families from Auburn High School our club helps sponsor the students’ trip with airfares and excursions around Melbourne. These could include a trip to the MCG, the Victorian Goldfields at Sovereign Hill or a night visit to the Melbourne Gaol.  The highlight of their week is usually the shopping trip to Chadstone.

The students attend school at Auburn High School and address the club at our weekly lunch meeting.
Our AHS students get to experience the rural delights of Tasmania on a return visit, which is hosted by the Rotary Club of Evanston.

Also, at Auburn High School members conduct simulated Job Interviews, public speaking programs and coaching.

Over the years we have enthusiastically supported the District Youth Exchange program. The young ambassadors chosen to represent Australia are often highly motivated young people and demonstrate great leadership potential during their year overseas.  The same applies to the young people from abroad who spend an exchange year with various clubs around Australia.

Each year we seek applicants to apply for one of the 25 places offered to students to attend the highly prestigious National Youth Science Forum. Coaching of our chosen applicant is offered to assist in the interview process. One of our successful entrants described the 12-day program as mind-blowing!

We also support the annual District Youth programs; MUNA, Model United Nations Assembly; RYLA, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. RYPEN, Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment; and Lord Somers Camp.
Many of these programs are organised by the District Youth Committees.
