This week we did not have our normal weekly meeting, but instead asked members to meet at DIK for a much-needed working bee session. I apologise for not being able to attend. It was very pleasing to hear, that it was well attended and thank-you to the following from our club that were able to make it; Noel and Lorraine McInnes, Henry and Jane Drury, Gordon Cheyne, Katrina Flinn, Julie Collete and Peter Lugg.
There was no Rotary meeting at Kooyong Tennis Club on the second Tuesday of the month: as it turned out, we had a Working Bee at the Donations-in-Kind Store in West Footscray.
Incoming RI President Shekhar Mehta, a member of the Rotary Club of Calcutta-Mahanagar, West Bengal, India, revealed the 2021-22 presidential theme, Serve to Change Lives, at this week’s virtual Rotary International Assembly.
He urged district governors-elect to become more involved in service projects, saying that caring for and serving others is the best way to live because it changes not only other people’s lives, but also our own.
We recently asked members if they had any club memorabilia suitable for publication, and Jill Weeks had a rummage through her cupboards. She really hit the mother lode!
This week we present a few: A Lofty Symbol, The Naughty Nineties Night, Paint Your Heart Out, and the Club’s Chartering.
