“On the 16th of May, Rotarians led the way,
In an Epic Day of Service shared across the globe that day.
From countless clubs came stories bright,
Of simple acts that spread some light —
And some of the wonderful deeds reported were these :
One helped the Governor-General shine,
Another wrote Rotary minutes right on time.
Some coached Auskick with whistle and cheer,
While others cooked dinners and poured the beer.
A stranger’s car got a jump-start spark,
And roses were pruned beside the churchyard park.
There were Bunnings barbecues sizzling away,
And market stalls running all through the day.
Bottle tops recycled, rubbish cleaned too,
Domestic violence flyers delivered right through.
Park runs organised before breakfast at dawn,
And Costco trolley marathons bravely borne.
There were lifts for alumnae to reunions grand,
Music programs arranged with Monash close at hand.
Small acts, big acts — none seeking fame,
Just Rotarians quietly playing the game.
For Rotary’s magic, as most of us know,
Isn’t always in meetings or banners on show —
It’s thousands of moments, both thoughtful and small,
That somehow, together… make a better world for all.”
