Yesterday, Richard Logan who does a great job every year organising not only a supply of hams, cakes and puddings for our Christmas fund raiser, asked me to get your orders asap whilst he is absent, as cut-off date is Friday 6th of December.
It seems in Rotary that we have to “tackle” Rotarians to get an order and, on time. It reminds me of what a business analyst told me. The most difficult and time-consuming aspect of any business are people! How to ask? How to get a result without offence? What to say? If you think about your workplace, business, even family you will most likely agree. People handling causes the most problems.
You may read this as a long winded request to place and give me your Christmas produce order this week, it might be!
My quote for the week: "When my kids become wild and unruly, I use a nice, safe playpen. When they're finished, I climb out."
EXT WEEK 10 December
Some “Rotary Respite” when we celebrate together at Studley Park Boathouse. A sharing of food, wine, music, surprises with much needed laughter and friendship!
I look forward to welcoming you and your partner.

Last week on Zoom, we had the inspirational Getrude Matshe. It was an emotional roller-coaster for many of us, as Getrude told us about the reality of life in an impoverished African country. I have just deleted my next sentences as my sense of helplessness doesn’t help anyone.
We just need to strive on as Rotarians making a difference wherever we can.

Do you know someone who lives/volunteers in the Boroondara area and provides selfless volunteer care to our older people? Does he/she fit the requirement for our Award?
Let’s promote Rotary Hawthorn’s appreciation of a volunteer’s service to seniors as we did in awarding Margot Boyle early this year.
How can we forget Margot as she “shocked” you all by having us sing a 3 part ditty instead of a speech.
Home Hosting Dinner – Date to be advised in 2025. We need one more home please. The Host prepares Main Course, and delegates the guests to bring the remaining food and wine for the night. Easy peasy and lots of fun!
