Greetings Members and Friends. I sometimes beat myself up for getting something wrong. I try to stop beating myself up and remind myself that we are merely volunteers in our commitment to Rotary’s pledge of making a difference.
This morning as I commenced preparing this eBulletin, I realised I was a week late and by the time you read this, it will the first week in June. Nearly taking the plunge into despair of my senses, I stopped! Does it make any difference or harm anyone if I am a week late?
Once upon a time, we would harbour these thoughts of self-despair, but isn’t aging wonderful? We can now prioritise what is important or negative and toss out the unimportant! This is what I have done this morning and you are b….y lucky to be receiving this eBulletin a week late!
So my quote for the week: ‘Count your age by friends, not years. Count your life by smiles, not tears.’ - John Lennon
PS: This is a verse that sat on my dressing table as a little girl and I have incorporated it many times into my thoughts: ‘A Friend is not a Fellow who is taken in by Sham. A Friend is one who knows our Faults … and doesn’t give a Damn!’
I hope you are a friend? DG
