Club Changeover, by Zoom!

A Zoom Changeover?  It certainly was different.

On Tuesday June 30th, our club assembled (in front of our individual computers) to see President Charlotte England pass the Chain-of-Office to incoming President Tilak Dissanayake.

How the Global Polio Eradication Initiative Began – Sir Clement William Bailey Renouf, AM

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Sir Clem Renouf AM. 

Sir Clem was the 2nd Australian elected as a Rotary International President (1978/79) and is credited with sparking the End Polio Now campaign. He was a Patron of Australian Rotary Health and an ardent supporter of their research programs.

Without the visionary leadership of Clem Renouf as the president of Rotary International (1978-79), we would not be talking about the possibility of global polio eradication today.

DISTRICT CHANGEOVER

Several Hawthorn Rotarians were among the 220 attendees at the District 9800 DG Changeover, which was held by Zoom on 27th June. 

Despite the difficulty of addressing an impersonal computer screen (as opposed to a roomful of responsive people), outgoing DG Grant Hocking and incoming DG Philip Archer both made impressive speeches.
