PRESIDENTS NOTE

President Tilak tells us about Australia Day activities:
 
Though today we woke to the sound of rain after a stretch of hot weather, it was not enough to dampen the spirit at Victoria Park, in Kew.
 
It was an immensely proud day to be an Australian and even prouder to be a Rotarian.

Australia Day

Australia Day at Victoria Park, Kew, was a happy event. 
 
With the Rotary Clubs from our surrounding area, we made new friends, and had lots of fellowship and fun.
 
As a community service, we also helped to keep the food and wine stalls busy.

DIK Update

Some good news and bad:  DIK Containers are usually loaded on Tuesdays, the day of our Rotary Hawthorn lunches. 

However we have no meeting on the second Tuesday of every month, which means some members may be able to help on Tuesday 9th February.

My Year as President

Another of our Past District Governors presents us with some of his reminiscences of his year as Club President: this time we have Dennis Shore (2002-2003). He says:
 
As was the way, I was advised that the nomination committee thought it was time that I answered the call to be President. I no longer had excuses I had previously offered of being overseas most of the time, so after consultation with Lynda the die was cast, well almost.

Funny:

c. Appropriate as the subject of a joke; deserving of a joke. Used in negative sentences to express disapprovalor to emphasize the seriousness of something: There is nothing funny about getting the flu.
d. Difficult to account for; unusual or odd: I had a funny feeling that she would call.
e. Suspiciously odd: It's funny how I seem to lose something every time he comes around.
f. Counterfeit or fraudulent: tried to pass off funny money as legitimate.
g. Informal Somewhat ill, painful, or abnormal: "I felt funny after eating those clams." "A mole on his arm that has started to go funny".
