PRESIDENTS NOTE

What a pleasure to see so many smiling faces on Zoom today. Katrina and I estimate that we had just under 50 attendees which included 11 guests. I am delighted that so many members are engaging with the new Zoom environment and are obviously enjoying connecting with other members via this medium. Time will tell how long we may need to meet in this way and hopefully everyone will continue to be a part of this opportunity to stay in touch at this difficult time.

How Nature Shaped The City Of Melbourne

Dr. Gary Presland spoke on “How Nature Shaped Melbourne” , and how he became interested in the subject, which turned out to be a huge task.

It eventually lead to a Ph.D. and a book “The Place for a Village”.

The Wide World of Rotary

During the lock-down, we try to keep up-to-date with what’s happening in the “Wide World of Rotary”.

We include some links about what is happening at World and District levels, FYI.

The DIK store is now closed to comply with the current Government directives.

The store closed on 27th March after completing a container of goods for Timor Leste and another one for Somalia.

There are golfers galore in Hawthorn Rotary, and they are all pining for the fairways . . . those same fairways that they dream of driving down.

Locked out by the dreaded virus, poor things. How much longer will they have to endure?

We include some golfing pictures to ease their misery.
