The Week Ahead

4 March 2025

Rotary Hawthorn President, Dorothy GilmourGreetings!

The following quote caught my eye last week and I am sharing it with you.

It comes from Mário César Martins de Camargo, RI President Elect 2025-26, member of the Rotary Club of Santo André, São Paulo, Brazil.

“𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞· 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭· 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤“ 𝐈𝐧 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝, 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞,” 𝐝𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐨 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝. “𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬, 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬, 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞: 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝... 𝐋𝐞𝐭’𝐬 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐚 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐥𝐥.”

I believe that inclusion, diversity and equality are of paramount importance in this world at this very troubling time.

On a brighter note, I do hope as many of you can bring your partner or just yourself and enjoy a casual lunch (of your decision) at Auburn Hotel, next Tuesday 11 March. I have booked for 16 so I would appreciate an email from you if you can attend.

Onwards and Upwards!

OTHER ROTARY CLUB EVENTS

Message from our DG Michael Lapina:

The Multi-District Impact Summit PowerPoint presentation is available to us and is designed to inform, inspire, and encourage participation in this unique event. It provides all the essential details about registering to attend the Multi-District Impact Summit. www.rotaryimpactsummit.org

Why should your members attend the Multi-District Impact Summit?
The Multi-District Impact Summit is more than just another meeting – it is a summit designed to:
  1. Ignite Inspiration: Hear from dynamic speakers who are making a difference in our communities.
  2. Foster Collaboration: Network with fellow Rotarians from Districts 9800 & 9510, exchange ideas, and create connections that lead to meaningful partnerships.
  3. Enhance Skills: Participate in workshops and breakout sessions tailored to develop leadership, innovation, and community service strategies.
What’s in it for my club?
  1. Club Empowerment: Discover actionable insights to community projects and bring back to your club to energise your club members.
  2. Networking Opportunities: Connect with like-minded individuals who share your passion for service above self.
How can you help?
  1. Present the PowerPoint presentation at your next club meeting.
  2. Encourage attendance among your club members, emphasizing the unique benefits of participation and the positive outcomes it can bring to your club and community.
Thank you for your dedication to Rotary and if you have any questions or require assistance with the presentation, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Together, as people of action, we can unite and take action to create lasting change across the globe, in our communities and in ourselves.
Early Bird registration open until 28th February.

Warm regards,
Michael Lapina
