Here we are commencing the beauty of autumn and the change of colour to our landscape. A landscape that is safe and free because of all the brave souls who fought for us.
If you get the chance to read George Petrou’s latest book: “The Art of Humanity”, you will be touched by the men and women, many of them unknown to us, all with their amazing, inspirational stories of acts of kindness and generosity. It makes for emotional reading and eye-opening narratives.
As those who attended today’s meeting will know, I discovered our guest speaker Michael Headberry in The Art of Humanity after he wrote a fantastic tribute to Sir John Monash. This accompanies George’s portrait of Sir John.
My quote for the week fits today’s ANZAC meeting and was written by Pericles, 2,000 years ago and it still resonates with us today:
‘What you leave behind is not engraved in stone monuments…. But woven into the lives of others.’
PS: May the Easter bunny find you next Sunday. Happy Easter to all our Members and Families!
New Stripe Booking System
Members please note that we have updated our ClubRunner booking system and you may notice a change in registering and paying online with the new Stripe system. Please contact Terry Kitchen if you have any questions.
There will be no meeting on Easter Tuesday however, the following week will be a “bobby dazzler”!
29 April: Bring a Guest Day and ‘Believe it or Not!’
A special request to our Members, please invite a guest - no excuses unless you have an excuse! We are planning a “Believe it or Not!” instead of a guest speaker. This meeting will have you on the edge of your seat, questioning the 4 presenters of a “tall story” or “true story” using their “truth or lie” object!
There is a global Mega Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, 14 May at 7.00 pm AEST. We do not have the database for invitations as we had for our first Mega Meeting in March.
We need your help in circulating the Invitation to Register to your friends and Rotarians both here and overseas. Any support you can provide will be greatly appreciated by Rotary SAFE Families.
This Mega Meeting has a great lineup of Guest Speakers including:
Gordon McInally, Immediate Past President Rotary International.
Professor Kate Fitz-Gibbon, an international research leader in the area of domestic and family violence, femicide, responses to all forms of violence against women and children, perpetrator interventions, and the impacts of policy and practice reform in Australia and internationally.
Grace Van Zyl, Chair Rotary Action Group for Peace
Oscar Lumire, President Rotary Kericho Kenya and project campaigner for girls safety in Kenya.
Robert Fisher, PP Rotary Melbourne is our Moderator again.
Please circulate the Invitation to Register far and wide.
Our Bunnings BBQ will be held. Terry Kitchen is looking for volunteers to assist in creating yummy sausage sizzler smells that will lure the public to our stand.
That means a great fundraising event whilst having fun together!
From left we have: Doug McLean, Andrew Crockett, Terry Kitchen, and Denbigh Richards.
