Greetings! As I write this Week Ahead, I have just returned from a 7.15 am breakfast organised by Michael Stilwell, our Regionalisation Group 2 Leader. Michael has divided Group 2 into North and South.
Rotary Hawthorn is part of Group 2 North along with Rotary Camberwell, Balwyn, North Balwyn, Glenferrie, Canterbury, Kew and Hawthorn.
These Breakfast Meetings at Tru Coffee in Balwyn are a monthly meeting for Presidents and this morning included our Presidents Elect.
It is reassuring to hear that our Group 2 North are strong healthy Clubs and it is terrific to hear from the different Presidents, the plans, successes, tribulations of our cluster group. There is now a feeling of goodwill and fellowship in the Group 2 North which is helpful and engaging. I have attached here my report from this morning’s early meeting.
I shall miss these Breakfast Meetings and the camaraderie in the early hours of the day but Hawthorn is in great hands with our incoming President Ian. <READ MORE>
My quote for the week: Confucius say: ‘Man who run behind car get exhausted! Man who run in front of car get tyred!’
NEXT MEETING – 17 June – at Kooyong
Pat Wilson - Belonging Matters
Topic: Inspiring Success: Community Employment Partnership with Rotary Transforms Lives
Belonging Matters is a not-for-profit organisation, established in 2003. It is committed to improving the social inclusion and economic participation of people with a disability, focusing on intellectual disability and Autism. Its main aim is to provide education and advice to people with a disability, their families and supporters about community, belonging and economic contribution.
The Community Employment Partnership (CEP) is an initiative of Belonging Matters which is based on the Rotary Employment Partnership in Alberta, Canada.
CEP works with job seekers to identify and harness their own networks and connections in the community. It also works alongside service clubs and businesses to enhance their understanding about intellectual disability and autism and how they can tap into their networks to find meaningful job opportunities for people with disabilities.

PROJECT UPDATES
Rotary SAFE Families
We are creating a Donation button on our website and Ian Bentley is giving a presentation Calgary at the Convention. He will be assisted by Vincent Chen who is also attend the Convention.
Flyers will be handed out along with our printed resources. Our new flyer ourlines how to donate money to RSF and I am hoping many of the Rotarian delegates will play with the Donate button on our website.
We have had wonderful interest from two more Rotary Clubs who want to become Ambassador Clubs of Rotary SAFE Families. They are Rotary Kingscliff, and Rotary Kippa Ring North Lakes, Queensland. They have printed their own wallet cards and are promoting within Rotary, and outside of Rotary, their commitment to preventing family abuse via RSF.
We are about to commence the planning of a global Webinar workshop which I will be presenting on the application of our 3R’s:
1. Recognising signs of abuse; becoming informed:
2. Raising concerns safely with victim; never the perpetrator;
3. Referring victim to 000 (emergency) or appropriate support organisation OR Making the call yourself! Watch this Space!

DV Safe Phones – Your old phone could save a life!
During our May campaign, donors helped us support 2,000 lives.
That’s 2,000 people now safer, more connected, and one step closer to freedom, thanks to a DV Safe Phone Kit and the compassion of people like you! A lifeline for them to connect with their family, friends, and support network.
All because of you! Do you know what is even more incredible? Over 3,500 phones were donated, an outpouring of community support that has truly moved us.
You can play a vital role in ensuring every call for help is heard.
Bring your old phone to a lunch meeting and Jane Bentley and I will ensure it is used to keep a victim safer.
Our Collection boxes will be placed in Boroondara Council high traffic areas. <READ MORE>
