With the assistance of “Donations-in-Kind” and “Friends of Baguia”, Hawthorn Rotary Club loaded a container of goods, destined for the rural district of Baguia in Timor. It included school desks, chairs, boxes of clothing, bedding, toys, pencils, exercise books and musical instruments. Bolts of cloth, sewing machines and white/black boards completed the load. In Dili, unloading was supervised by Rotarian Daryl Mills and Friends of Baguia. Goods were loaded on trucks and sent through Bacau to Baguia. The recipients expressed heartfelt gratitude to Rotary, and proudly wore their new clothing: one young man wearing his fleecy jacket all day, despite the heat and humidity. Hawthorn Rotary Club will provide ongoing scholarships and training for students in Baguia.
